40 hours (4 hour blocks over 10 spaced days of training)
In this course the student will study and apply the use of their body as a defensive weapon. This system of verbal and physical defense techniques is designed for maximum effectiveness with minimal bodily harm or injury to the applicant, using only the necessary force to stop the aggressor. The specific techniques and applications are focused on the most probable scenarios or threat situations that the applicant might encounter in their professional careers, and day to day life.
Topics Covered:
Threat level assessment
Verbal conflict negotiation
Defensive tactics- Movement, interception, evasion, counters, blocks, and striking
Physical force applications- Joint locks, chokes
Weapons retention, takeaways.
Required gear:
Comfortable clothing (stretching or ripping of fabric may occur)
Mouthguard
Eye protection (Will be provided if you do not have your own)
Sport footwear
Recommended gear:
Water bottle
Personal towel
Weapon specific gear (duty rig, holsters, magazine pouches, etc)
*No real firearms, Tasers, blades or batons will be used during this course. We encourage students to provide their own gear specific training simulator or we have Glock 17 training simulators for use.
